Miranda, age 37, of Chicopee, works as a registered nurse at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
She earned her Bachelor of Nursing degree in the summer of 2022 and immediately enrolled in the Masters of Nursing program last September. She is on track to graduate in August with a master’s in Nursing Education, and has a goal of teaching nursing.
“It has always been a dream of mine to attend school at Elms, growing up here in Chicopee. In high school I did a summer program where I got to stay on campus.
“Traditional college didn’t work for me. Life didn’t let me be a traditional college student. I went back to school many years later. I decided to go into nursing when my youngest child was 4 months old.”
“When I had the opportunity to do the RN to BSN program, I knew I wanted to come here.”
After earning her associate’s degree in nursing and beginning work as a registered nurse at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, she enrolled in Elms’ RN to BSN Program, a 12-to-15 month curriculum designed for working nurses that balances academics with the demands of both work and life.
